The concept behind this was to create an “Anti-selfie” – something that took a stand against the sucked-in faces with trout pouts snapped in a second from a phone held aloft. This selfie reclaims the “unattractive” look, the way we are when we look down and scream into our chests, or laugh out loud and scrunch up our cheeks. With a nod also to the Slow Movement, as this piece took weeks to complete instead of the snap-upload-exhibit phenomenon of the selfie culture.
